The European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels co-organized a business luncheon with the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, in Brussels on 14 June 2018. The guests of honour at the luncheon included Mrs Carrie Lam, as the keynote speaker, Mr Didier Reynders, the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and European Affairs, and Ms Cecilia Malmström, the European Commissioner for Trade, as guest speakers. This luncheon marked the start of Mrs. Carrie Lam’s official visit to Europe. Our guests of honour celebrated the thriving Hong Kong-Europe strategic partnership, stressing the promising future of Hong Kong-Brussels relations and holding an optimistic view of the bilateral trade partnership between the two. As Hong Kong’s second largest trading partner, Mrs. Carrie Lam welcomed EU companies to further expand business activities in Hong Kong. Initiated in 1997, the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (ECC) is a non-governmental business interest group. The ECC is a ‘Chamber of Chambers’ with its membership comprising 15 European Chambers based in Hong Kong and 1 in Macau. The appointed representatives of these chambers make up the ECC board of directors.
